Story of the Week, October 9 2009, Surprise from Heaven
Hello, angel friends. I am happy to announcement the publication of my latest book, MOMS GO WHERE ANGELS FEAR TO TREAD. Nope, it’s not really an angel book despite the title. It’s a book of (hopefully) humorous essays on mothering (along with a prayer now and then.) My editor felt that much of today’s humor is trashy, and wanted a book that offered G-rated material. I felt that we all need more laughter in our lives right now. So we put our heads (haloes) together, and I wrote this for them. Read a review at

You can order it at amazon.com, from the publisher at 1-800-586-2572 or even from me if you want an autograph. Just click “Books” on this site, and follow order directions. At $13, it makes a great gift. End of commercial, and on with the angels:
Marlene JuHaros, of Whitehouse, Texas, was excited when her husband told her he wanted to take her on a cruise for their 35th wedding anniversary. To finance the cruise, he planned to sell their extra car, an old Seville. Marlene is a warm and generous person, so I wasn’t too surprised when she told me later that they had decided not to go.
Instead, they were going to buy four new tires and do the repairs (about $300) on the car, and GIVE it to a single mom they had met, who really needed it. “I think the Lord will be pleased about that,” Marlene said in her usual quiet way. I was amazed. Do people today really do those things? But that wasn’t all…
Marlene’s sister still wanted the couple to cruise, so she checked on the cost of tickets. On the day she checked, there was a one-day promotion going on. $1000 was being taken off each cruise ticket, bringing the price down to about $600 per ticket. Marlene’s sister checked farther, and discovered that the airline involved was taking off an extra $100 per ticket—for that destination and day only!
“It was a net savings of about $2,300, the exact amount we would have probably gleaned from the sale of the car,” Marlene says. “But later we realized that even with the sale money, without this promotion we wouldn’t have been able to afford the cruise anyway.” Instead, because this couple followed the Lord, they are going on a seven-day cruise, and a young single mom is driving her Seville to work each day.
I have written about Marlene’s spiritual adventures in an earlier book, Guardian Angels, when angels attended her wedding. She never expects to receive anything as a “payback” or “reward” from the Lord. But she is never surprised when he sends her an unexpected gift either. She’s a true earth angel.

I Loved this story- it was great!
I just shows us that when we Give- we Receive!
And that we Can help others and find our own Joy too!
If we’ll just remember that God Loves us too-
and that he wants Everyone to be happy- including us..
It helps us to undestand that we are all in this Together!
There more we take care of others- the more we feel the Love! All for One & One for All!
