If you look at my gallery called pierced pieces you will see an angel made out of maple I recently made for the christmas tree exhibition at the Montreal museum of fine arts. It Stands about 8 inches tall and is turned to a thin wall and then pierced (see photo on my site) and painted in acrylics the halo is also pierced which is a time consuming process of making holes through the wood leaving a framework . I am a machineist professionally but belong to a woodturning club. I have won prizes for my artistic woodturnings, most recently including best in show last month at the Ottawa woodshow woodturning competition .
