Naming Your Angel? Many of you have asked if your guardian angel has a name and if so, whether it is necessary for you to know it. Since Scripture says that God named everything as He created it, it’s probably logical to assume that He named each angel too. Each must be precious to Him in its own way, just as we humans are. And if it was essential for us to know our guardian angel’s name, I am sure God would have given us that information. So it’s probably not. But knowing your guardian’s name might make your relationship closer and more personal. That’s why some angelologists suggest we ask God that if it is His will, He let us know our angel’s name. Some people ask to know the name at night before they fall asleep. The first name they think of the next morning is it! (In some cases, one has to ask for two or three days before a name is revealed.) At other times, someone else is given the name, and that person shares that information. A woman once came up to me and, rather shyly, volunteered that she sometimes "knows" angels' names. She believed that my guardian angel's name was Dominic, and that he was a warrior angel, big and strong, because that was the kind of angel I needed to protect me both physically and spiritually, given the work I was doing. Since I had never named my angel, I thought Dominic fit the bill completely. (C) 2003 Joan Wester Anderson www.joanwanderson.com
